Mary Dutta

Mystery Author

Mary Dutta grew up in the suburbs of Boston, trying wicked hard to read every book in her local library. Her love of stories led her to New York City where she studied literature and enjoyed a brief era of being cool—checking coats at a jazz club and working for a fashion designer—before starting her career in college teaching.

Eventually wandering south of the Mason Dixon line, she traded teaching for a job in college admissions, where she encountered some wild stories that she is not allowed to share. Instead, she began to write stories of her own.

Mary lives with her husband in Birmingham, Alabama (the Magic City) and enjoys restarting running plans, dreaming up her next travel adventure, and writing twisty mysteries. She crafts entertaining tales about relatable characters in a realistic world. No graphic violence or gore, just a few laughs and some just desserts.

A member of Sisters in Crime and the Short Mystery Fiction Society, her award-winning short stories can be enjoyed in numerous anthologies.
